My day...

Had the fun of driving to PHX today, a nice 9 hrs behind the wheel. Then I came home to four trees in a trailer and a wife giving me puppy dog eyes... So 2 hrs later I have my workout done, now for a shower then off to bed.... Oh and I was able to get the rental out, but there is a storm blowing in today, it may be fun in the morning!

Now I'm no Eco-nerd...

But I do work in a capacity that I need to understand the eco-idea in order to serve my customers. Today I had a training session in Flagstaff to learn about a new product that is really neat.
As many as you may know, I work in the door and windows dept. at The Home Depot. There we carry four different vendors of windows. Today we learned about Andersen's new product line, the 100 Series. Which is really cool, and if the lead times were shorter (down to the line I need to pick up the last window this Friday) I would be installing one on our own project. Real quickly, they are made with Fibrex, which has all the insulating properties of vinyl, but they function more like wood and aluminum. That and they are priced the same as vinyl!
So cool...
Does that make me an Eco-nerd?

Long day off...

It only felt that way because we worked all day around the ranch. Started off fixing a bad spot in a floor, ended up cleaning out the conex for the next 10 hrs! It needed to be done. Other than that it was a good day, everyone got along and worked well together.

Had a good Sat...

We worked a little, played a little... Had some out of town family come out and have a BBQ and cake. Then we hit the trails for a quick ride. Had a chance to show off some nice country. Now time for sleep... Tomorrow back to the grind.

Spring weather

Well, it started raining around eleven this morning, and beside the few hours of sun this afternoon, it's been raining ever since. Which is  a good thing, our weeds were looking a bit parched...

Some real life data

It isn't hot today, but it is clear. So I took a few readings of the outside and inside of the west wall, it is late afternoon, 4pm. It does look as though the radiant barrier (which I might double to add a bit of R-value) is going to do a nice job keeping the heat out.

Another improvement, will also be a coating of Henery's Envirowhite roof coating, which will added to the R-19 that will be on the ceiling, with luck this summer will be comfortable.

Was making headway...

Still trying to get over whatever it is I have, so I'm looking for small projects to do and stay out of the 30 mph winds we have today. So back to the 'Winter Room' to continue sealing and insulating. I was able to start and almost finish the western wall. I'm using a radiant barrier instead of fiberglass due to the width of the wall only being 3 in. Originally this room was going to be uninsulated, so a 2x3 wall was lighter and quicker to put up...
