Our fishing trip...

A local rancher opened their private catfish hole for our 4H group this evening. Nice little watering hole, couldn't put a hook in without bringing up a fish. Even without bait! Our group caught about a dozen catfish at least 5lb or bigger...

Bad little blogger...

It's true, it has been over a week since my last post, and two since I really posted anything interesting. Life's been very busy out in the sticks. We've been cleaning and planning for the next big phase. Little one has made the decision to give up on gymnastics (although she took 1st all around last competition) and go ahead and give 4H a bigger portion of time. She wants to show goats and sheep, and maybe some other smaller live stock. So next on the agenda is to put together an animal area, a place to put in a small barn, and coral. The family is also talking about adopting a mule or two... Yep necks getting redder by the day here.

So I've got to run, have to take another trip to the dump this morning...

New stormdoor

The last one was taken out by a 35 mph gust of wind. So down the hill to Bullhead to go to Lowe's (sorry Home Depot doesn't carry storm doors as stock) and bought a Lawsen's door... Not impressed, but hey it's up and works good, looks like it'll keep the bugs out and the warmth in.

Talk about change of seasons...

It is currently 64 degrees and the temp keeps dropping... I wasn't paying much attention to the weather this afternoon, so I just closed up the house. Hope it doesn't get too cold in here tonight right now we are at 71 and holding... Wasn't it a week ago it was 95 this time of night?

This year we have had a really bad year with bees. In fact we have seen several swarms that actually cast a shadow as its flown by. And our animals water dishes have been taken over. We called a bee specialist a few months ago to ask how to deal with it. He told us that if we wanted he would come over whip they swarmed and try and relocate as many as he could, but unless we found the hive it wouldn't have stopped them completely... Well tonight as we walked around planning our barn yard we found it. Its huge! At least 3 foot around buried in a hole about ten feet from our fenced in area... The question is, should we leave it, or should we have them relocated? What say you?

The drive into town...

Our wild horses are back, been a few months since I've seen them here. Also this poor guy just wasn't fast enough today, I've seen him before, he likes to wait till the last moment to dart out in front of you... Looks like he waited too long this morning.

Spending some quaility time with the family...

Took the family out for a little ride in the Sammy, went back to the little stream and took a hike. Couldn't ask for a better day... It is 103 but down hiking up the stream dunking our heads in the water every few min. There is actually a lot of water flowing.
Little one loved seeing the wild life... Frogs, dragon flies and all kinds of strange bugs. We did see something I've never seen before, looks like a small crab looking thing, but it wasn't a crawfish, something different. I'll have to see if I can find more info on it. We also saw very pronounced black bear tracks. Along with deer and the ever present cattle tracks...

Finally a day off...

Sitting here drinking beer trying to get a game plan together. Need to work on our road and get a new storm door for the back of the house. We also have another visitor out this weekend, so I'm gonna have to make time to take everyone on a quick ride... Oh and I also have to work on electrical problem on one of our generators... It's been real hot the past couple of days, not being able to open the back door or run the evap. cooler is no fun... Work work work....

Connection isn't what it should be...

I had tried to post a few pictures yesterday, but my connection is not what it should be. The two storms that came through the area took out a couple of cell towers in the area (at least that is the rumor I heard) so for now I'm going to just post text and wait for the towers to go back online before I send pictures...
