Been raining for a long time...

It's been a year since we've seen rain like this. We are going on twelve hours of continuous
rain here at the ranch. The most amazing part is this is the third day we've had rain. I'm not complaining we need it, and so far I haven't seen any leaks. Which really makes me happy! It does make working a bit more difficult. Glad I have things to do inside now...

What a day...

Woke up to a winter wonderland... Well not really, but there was frost everywhere. So once the wood stoves were blazing and we had enough heat to move we started work on the kitchen part of the saloon. Had the insulated box for the fridge inserted into the wall... Nice. Also have our custom made sink base in place. (since we are all so tall we raised the height up to 42" on the countertops... No bending at the waist to do dishes!)

Next on the agenda, we replaced a window in the living room, from a 2x3 to a 4x5! Looks like patio door! Very nice...

Too dark for pics right now, so I guess I better settle for a cold beer...

Been raining all morning and...

I am happy to report that although I have not been able to go up and seal the flashing on the new porches, that we have a dry walkway from building to building. Yay! It also looks nice and dry in the saloon. Another successful roof! (I should not be so amazed, but with last years trouble on the winter room roof, I'm always expecting trouble.)

The rain is nice, needed, and welcomed. Just hope it does not get in the way of tomorrows work list. It sounds as though we were going to put in another (larger) window in the winter room. It can get a bit dark in here, so when the big Orange put the 4'x5' vinyl windows on clearance, we jumped all over it. Going to put it in a wall that is only 7'x 8' so it will really open up the room. Hell we could almost use it as a patio slider!

Even though I feel under the weather...

We were able to get the roof finished on the new porch, and a solid plan for the new kitchen.

We also had a goat expert come out to the ranch and give them a checkup. They said they looked great, just needed to reburn their horns off (a requirement to show at 4H here in mohave county). Let me tell you I think little one had a worse time of that then the goats!

Having a redneck evening...

Just finished reading the latest Bird and Blooms, Country, Mother Earth News, and thumbed threw the Readers digest, while having a beer and eating dinner. Time for bed...

Yet another successful work day at the ranch...

Wow, we feel so 21st century. We have our tv and DVD player up and running, and we were able to watch a movie, with very little effect to the batteries. In fact the panels held the same voltage with the TV, DVD player running and I was charging an 18v battery, not to shabby...

We also hung two peices of dry wall above the stove in thbe living room, and got a good start on the porch infront of the living room...

Now off to dinner and a movie... Thats so cool to say!

The happening at the ranch...

Been kinda busy out in the sticks, I've had to work every other day the past two weeks, so Its been non-stop activity for the me. We've completed the roof on the saloon and the porch. We've also hooked up the wood stove, and finished the floor. In the house we've completed the wiring for our flat panel LCD TV and DVD player (been 18 months since we've used our TV, and unless we run a generator, we've watched family movies using a 7" portable DVD player) if I've calculated this right, with our solar panels we should be able to watch TV all day if we wanted to, or at night we should have at least three hrs of TV time without running the batteries down too much. By this time tomorrow we'll know for sure.
Also on the home front, on Monday the temp dipped down to the magical number of 19, causing us to not only freeze water in the traps of our gray water line, but also bust the cold water line to our kitchen and extra bathroom. Hopefully the hot water side will be ok the rest of the winter, and not give us any troubles.
Since it is way late, and the day will start at sun up, I better go and get what little sleep I can.
