Finally Rain!

Had a nice storm roll through last night, just enough to keep the dust down, and cool things off. Awoke to 70 degrees slight breeze and still a little cloudy. In a word nice.

The weather is a tease...

I watched a nice thunderstorm rolling in yesterday, it got about two miles away and poof it was gone... An hr later I hear the tell tell boom of another one, look behind us and hear comes another... Two miles out poof it's gone. Took a ride and it did rain, quite a bit, just not were it did me any good! it did cool off for a few min then shot back up... Such a tease....

My Cheapie Solar System

Here is a really neat DIY Home Solar system. Very simple, and really close to what we have. Our system is also based on the Harbor Freight solar panels, we have three of them in fact.

Long night

Some times I wonder if we'll make it out here. Tonight is one of those times. Its hot, humid, and completely still! Add to that no sleep and an early day at work... Not enjoying life right now...

Dealing with the weather

After my last post the weather made one hell of a turn. It was hot humid and still all night. Never went below 90 until 4 am and then only down to 85... Today is a bit nicer, 95 currently but with a breeze. I did install a misting system on the front porch. So bring on the heat!

Contaminating the weather

Last year on July 3rd we had the thunderstorm of the century. Several inches of rain in a matter of minutes. Washing out our drive way, and the main road. It changed the landscape it was so large. This year is a complete oppisite. We have had tempatures well below average, mid to high eighties, with lows at night in the sixties. The summer monsoons (By the way, the term "monsoons" as in "when the monsoons arrive ..." is a meteorological no-no. There is no such beast. The word should be used in the same manner that "summer" is used. Consequently, the proper terminology is "monsoon thunderstorms" not "monsoons.") have just not been able to gather enough energy, or moisture. In fact the dewpoint is only 32 ° we need three consecutive days of a dew-point at or above 55 ° to be in official monsoon weather pattern (dispite what the national weather service has to say about the situation. Several years ago, they changed the definition of the start of the season from dew-point based to calander based. While some thunderstorms can develope over night in June, it is in no way a monsoon flow with out a sustained elevated dew-point.) add to that the fact that the last bit of rain was well over a month ago, things around here are a bit on the dry side. But at the time of this writing, we have seen an influx of moisture in the past 24 hrs.  In fact the dew point shot up to 50 degrees yesterday, as a small rain storm rolled through the area.

Made some headway...

We were able to sale one of toys tonight, which is a big relief. We now have all the money needed to finish the house! We may be able to move in by the end of the month!
