Just found your blog on Pinterest! and I'm so glad I did! We are also a homeschooling family (5 children) and we live in Northern Arizona as well. We want to get off grid in the next 2 to 3 years, but don't even know where to begin to start!.

Thanks for the comment!
In Arizona, best place to start your home schooling adventure would be the AFHE (Arizona Families for Home Education) conference in Phoenix. Their web site is AFHE.org It is a two day event filled with everything from curriculum to short classes on what to expect and how to cope. If it all sounds to overwhelming check out AZVA (Arizona Virtual Acadamy) also known as k12 really good alternative to public school environment.
Starting a life off grid can be overwhelming. My best advice is first learn what can and can't live without. Then design your home to fit that. I know a few people who thought they would love it, but after they found out they would have to change their lifestyle found out that that the reality of an off-grid life is just to much for them. There are a lot of bloggers writing about their adventures, I would suggest reading all you can before making the leap.
Personally, we love our home, and love the challenges in living off grid.
Hey Jay Smith! thought I would let you know I stopped by to visit. the rat
