Inherited Grandfathers, Grandfathers Clock from Hell!

Ok this thing has been frustrating the crap out of me! My wife inherited her grandfathers, grandfather clock, however after getting it here, and cleaned up, I can't seem to get the damn thing to work! It's level, everything works free, you can set the pendulum into motion, and it will swing for approximately three min before it stops. So far the only thing I can find out about this clock is it is a Herschede The Grandeur 1225. manufactured sometime between 73-83. It's a low end model based on the four digit model number and the rod chimes (It's complete with the exception of four missing hour chime rods) Apparently we no longer have a clock repair person in our area anymore, so I'm going to have to become one myself.
New to us Grandfathers clock

Label found on inside of door, also has 79 stamped into the cabinet base.

Only markings found on the clock works are Hereschede Starkville No (0) Jewels 6 74

I've inspected what I can and do not see anything damaged or gummed up

I'm sure someone in the internet world has some experience with these old clocks.
