LOUDONVILLE -- A Columbus woman died Sunday while hiking in Mohican State Park.

Shelley Miller, 57, was dead at the scene when authorities from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and the Ashland County Coroner responded to the call Sunday afternoon.

The coroner's office identified Miller on Monday.

Authorities believe Miller died after being hit by a falling branch around 3 p.m. on the state park's Hemlock Gorge Trail.

ODNR, which is investigating the incident, cautioned hikers in a statement on the accident "to remain on established trails and follow park safety instructions."
