Body of missing man Gabor Berczi-Tomcsanyi found in Grand Canyon

Body of missing man who entered Grand Canyon National Park on July 19 is found

A body believed to be that of a missing man who entered Grand Canyon National Park on July 19 was recovered Monday by National Park Service personnel following a multiday search and rescue operation.

The body was found in the park below Yavapai Point, about 430 feet below the rim.

Based on evidence at the scene, the man is believed to be 45-year-old Gabor Berczi-Tomcsanyi, according to NPS spokesperson Joelle Baird.

Berczi-Tomcsanyi was believed to have been seen entering the Grand Canyon around July 19 and abandoning his personal vehicle at the Grand Canyon Visitor Center, Baird said. 

The National Park Service and the Coconino County Medical Examiner will lead the investigation.
