Another search and rescue in Mohave county

SEARCH AND RECOVERY: BLACK MOUNTAINS, NORTHWEST GOLDEN VALLEY

On Tuesday (8/17) evening, a local rancher called the Mohave County Sheriff's Office about a vehicle that had been abandoned for at least a week in a remote area in the Black Mountains northwest of Golden Valley. On Wednesday (8/18), the Mohave County Environmental Rural Area Cleanup Enforcement (ERACE) was contacted to investigate the abandoned vehicle, as they investigate criminal littering (illegal dumping) complaints throughout Mohave County. On Thursday (8/19) morning, an ERACE Officer located the vehicle and attempted to locate its registered owner – a 43-year-old male. During that investigation, it was determined that the owner of the vehicle has had no contact with family members in almost a month. The vehicle appeared to have become stuck and concerns that the owner may have walked away seeking help, search and rescue responded to the area. Tracking teams began searching the area and located him deceased nearby his vehicle. He was conveyed to the Medical Examiner's Office. An investigation is ongoing into his cause of death. Our prayers are with his family.
